Puri, Feb 13: With people celebrating ‘World Radio Day’ today with much enthusiasm, an Odia youth from Puri district of Odisha is winning accolade from various spheres for devising a retro ‘Panasonic’ stereo radio with the help of matchsticks.
The budding talent namely, Saswat Ranjan Sahoo, a +3 student from Kumbharpada area managed to set up the radio by joining as many as 3130 matchsticks.
He took four hours to set up the matchstick radio.
Having a knack for matchstick craft Saswat has won praise in several occasions in the past by creating beautiful artefacts, say reports.
“Radio proves to be a vital instrument for information dissemination in adverse situations. While PM Modi is promoting radio through his Mann Ki Baat programme I decided to devise the matchstick radio to make radio popular again,” said Saswat.
