Rourkela, Apr 23: In what can be termed as “sheer break of law by a lawmaker”, Raghunnathpalli BJD MLA Subrat Tarai has allegedly flouted Covid norms as he, despite being tested positive for the virus, is staying in PWD Inspection Bunglow here by illegally exercising his power as people’s representative belonging to the ruling party.
According to information, while the IB has neither been made a Covid Care Centre nor been declared a containment zone, the MLA is moving in the campus freely and people are calling on him every now and them.
Ironically, he booked the room without informing the official in charge that he has tested positive for the Covid 19. “He has been staying in the IB for the last five-six days. He has not told us that he is Covid-infected,” said the official.
It has now become talk of the town now. “The MLA could have stayed in home isolation in the executive residential quarter given to him by the RSP. It is not understood why he is staying in the IB and putting other’s lives at risk. Being an MLA, he should not do that,” said some locals.
