The arrested accused has been identified as Shankar Dehuri, a resident of Kaliapani village in Jajpur district. He will be produced before the court later in the day, informed Kamakhyanagar SDPO Suprasana Mallick.
Notably, the mutilated body of the minor girl was found in a nullah at Kharakhari village on November 11.
Primary investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly offered the girl some snacks before sexually assaulted her on the fateful day. Later, he stoned the baby girl to death and dumped her in the nullah, a police official said.
