Jajpur, Jan 28: Police on Thursday claimed to have identified the two accused, who allegedly dumped the body of a student of Rama Devi Women’s University on the roadside in Kuakhia area in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Jajpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul PR said that a team of District police has identified the two accused in the death case. “Efforts are on to nab the accused duo,” the SP said.
As per reports, the Kuakhia police recovered the body of the student, identified as Jharaphula Naik (21), near Mulapal in its jurisdiction on Wednesday and started an investigation in this connection.
While examining a CCTV footage in Kuakhia, the investigation team found that two youths were seen carrying Jharaphula in a scooter on Mulapal-Dialkandi road yesterday.
Locals, who were working in the roadside agricultural field, alleged that two youths dumped the girl on Wednesday morning and fled from the spot.
Jharaphula, who hailed from Marundeipasi village under Jashipur police limits in Mayurbhanj district, had gone to Bhubaneswar on January 24, police said.
“The Call Details Record (CDR) of the deceased has been examined. Further investigation is underway,” police added.
