“With a view to protect the health of public and preventing spread of the Covid-19 virus including the newly detected highly contagious Omicorn variant due to congregation of large number of citizens, it has been decided that all religious institutions like temples, mosques, gurudwars, churches etc. will remain closed for public from 31st December,2021 to 2nd January, 2022 within BMC jurisdiction,” said an order issued by the civic body.
“However, the usual rituals of the religious institutions by the priests/ sevayats etc. will continue to be performed without any public participation,” it added.
