Bhubaneswar, May 17: Renowned Odia music director and singer Amarendra Mohanty succumbed to Covid-19 while undergoing treatment at a COVID Hospital here in Odisha on Monday. He was 63.
According to sources, Mohanty was admitted to SUM COVID hospital in the State Capital after he had tested positive for Covid-19. He was on a ventilator support for the last three days, sources added.
The veteran music director breathed his last early this morning.
Mohanty has lent his voice for several Odia bhajans and Odia film songs. He has worked as a music composer for many Odia hit movies such as Bhai Hela Bhagari, Stree, Suna Panjuri, and Kandhei Akhire Luha.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed his grief on the demise of Mohanty.
“I am saddened to learn of the death of renowned music director Amarendra Mohanty. The impression he left on the world of devotional songs and films through his unique musical compositional style is always memorable. I express my condolences to the bereaved families. May the departed soul rest in peace,” Patnaik tweeted in Odia.
