Puri, June 2: Ropes, which are required for cordoning and pulling Raths (chariots) during world famous Rath Yatra of Shreemandir deities(Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra ), reached Puri on Wednesday.
According to information, a total of 20 ropes have been received by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration. They include six ropes to be used for cordoning and 14 for pulling of Raths. Each rope to be used for pulling Raths measures 67 metres or 220 ft.
While each Rath will have an inner rope cordon, the three ropes to be used for three chariots-Nandighosh, Taladhwaj and Debadalan, have been differently coloured. Similarly, three ropes will be used for outer cordons. Each cordon rope measures 100 metre.
The Orissa Cooperative Coir Corporation Limited has supplied the ropes on the order of the SJTA. A total of 10 artisans prepared the ropes in strict adherence to the Covid guidelines, said a Coir Board official.
