Bhubaneswar, Apr 8: Rukuna Rath Yatra of Lord Lingaraj is likely to be held without participation of devotees this year. The Rath may be dragged either by Sevayats or by police.
Though a final decision has not been taken, Sevayats attending a meeting at BDA office here demanded that the Rukuna Rath Yatra should not be stopped and they (Sevayats) be allowed to drag the Rath this year.
“The festival should not be stopped. It should be held without participation of devotees. Sevayats should be allowed to drag the Rath,” said a servitor.
The meeting was attended by BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhury and representatives of four Nijogs, informed Additional BMC Commissioner Laxmikant Sethy.
A detailed discussion on the upcoming Rukuna Rath was held at the meeting. Those who will drag the Rath would have to have Covid negative certificates. The State Government would take a final decision regarding Rukuna Rath Yatra, said the BMC Commissioner.
