Mahila Morcha president Smruti Patnaik in a press conference here targeted Sahoo saying he has no moral right to continue as a Minister and hence, Chief Minister should sack him from his Cabinet.
“We demand that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik sack Minister Arun Sahoo from the Council of Minister within 24 hours for protecting the prime suspect in the kidnap and murder of a five-year-old girl child of Nayagarh. If the CM fails to do so, we will resort to State-wide agitation within next 48 hours from tomorrow,” said Patnaik.
She also demanded that the State Government hand over the case to the CBI for a free and fair investigation.
The development came even after Minister Sahoo said that he was heart-broken over the Pari murder case and welcomed the Crime Branch probe in the matter.
On Tuesday, the deceased girl’s parents attempted immolate themselves outside the State Assembly here in a desperate bid to get justice. They also alleged that Babuli Nayak, the prime suspect in their daughter’s murder case, was a close aide of Minister Sahoo and hence, police did not act.
