Mahammad Azim, an auto driver from Sambalpur, returned a bag containing gold jewellery worth around Rs 6 lakh to a passenger who left it in his auto.
Sambalpur, June 8: Exhibiting exemplary honesty, an auto-rickshaw driver here in Odisha on Tuesday handed over a bag containing gold jewellery worth around Rs. 6 lakh to a passenger who forgot it in his vehicle.
Auto-driver Mahammad Azim of Khetrajpur in the city returned the bag containing gold jewellery to Chandrakanti who left behind the bag in the auto-rickshaw.
According to reports, Chandrakanti travelled her home from the railway station here in an auto yesterday. She was carrying the gold jewellery in a bag. After reaching near her home, she paid the fare and got off the vehicle but left her bag behind in Azims's auto.
Later, Azim noticed the bag in the back seat of his auto. Realising that the lady who had boarded the rickshaw must have left it behind, he thought of returning the bag to its rightful owner but he didn't know the proper address of the said passenger.
Chandrakanti however managed to trace Azim at Khetrajpur area and the latter returned the bag to the woman after proper verification.
Meanwhile, the auto-rickshaw driver has garnered a lot of appreciation for his honesty.
