Bhubaneswar, Mar 1: With daytime temperature soaring past 40 degree Celsius at several places in Odisha, schools from across the State have started classes in morning shift from today.
Usually schools start functioning in morning hours from April 1 every year, but the State government on Friday directed the School and Mass Education department to start morning shifts in schools from March 1 following the rise in temperature.
The Education department has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to ensure morning classes amid strict adherence to the Covid-19 guidelines including wearing of face masks and maintain of social distance.
Classes for IX and XI which were running from 8.30 AM to 10 AM are rescheduled from 7 AM to 9 AM. Similarly, classes for X and XII which were being held from 11 AM to 4 PM are rescheduled from 9 AM to 1 PM.
