Bhubaneswar, Feb 14: All the schools in Odisha will remain closed tomorrow in view of the six-hour “Odisha bandh” call given by the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC), informed School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash on Sunday.
The decision has been taken to ensure the safety of the students, said the Minister.
Besides, all schools will also remain closed on February 16 on the occasion of Saraswati Puja.
Notably, the State unit of Congress has given a call for a six-hour Odisha bandh on February 15 to protest against the rising prices of petrol and diesel.
Blaming both the Centre and the State government for the rising fuel prices, OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik said said that the bandh will begin from 7 AM and continue till 1 PM on Monday.
Vehicles will stay off the roads, shops and other business establishments will also remain shut during the period, Patnaik added.
However, emergency services including ambulance will not be affected due to the state-wide bandh, he said. .
