Deogarh, Feb 15: A school teacher was killed and another sustained critical injuries after a car hit their motorcycle at Basalai chhak under Deogarh Model Police Station here on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Rabinarayan Sahoo, Sanskrit teacher of Basalai High School. The injured person is Manas Kumar Das, the Physical Education Teacher (PET) of the same school.
As per the report, Rabinarayan was returning home from school after the day’s work along with his colleague Manas on the pillion seat of the motorcycle bearing registration number- OD 28A 2132 last evening, when the mishap took place.
A Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire car bearing registration number-OD 14Q 7950 and carrying marriage party members was heading in the opposite direction when the driver lost control over the wheels. As the car hit the teacher duo’s bike from the front and dragged the same to a few yards, Rabi died on the spot.
Some local residents rushed Manas to Deogarh hospital with the assistance of police in a critical condition. He was later shifted to Burla hospital for better treatment.
