Fans of Shah Rukh Khan celebrated the actor's return to the big screen by not only booking their tickets to the first shows but also dancing away to the film's songs.
However, the spy-thriller faced protests in the city. Activists of Kalinga Sena staged a demonstration in front of the Keshari talkies to protest against the Pathaan movie. The activists even tore the posters of the film at the hall in the capital city.
“The film is full of vulgarity. Pathaan is the wrong message to society and spoils the youths of the country. Rape cases are increasing for such vulgar movies. People of Odisha should boycott the movie. We will continue our protest against the movie,” said Kalinga Sena president Hemant Rath.
In 'Pathaan' Shah Rukh is playing a RAW agent. The film also features Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana, and is a part of YRF's spy universe.
The movie also faced controversy after the release of the song 'Besharam Rang' because of the colour of Deepika's costume and many opposed the release of the film.
