The predator attack has been reported from Baghamar village where a local resident Sarat Chandra Kathua went on an inspection of his cattle-shed this morning and came across the sheep carcasses.
The modus operandi of the mystery animal remained the shame as deep nail indentations were seen on the neck and stomach parts of the carcasses.
Getting intimated on the incident, Forest Department officials rushed to the spot and carried out primary investigation.
Notably, this is the fourth incident of sheep death in Baghamar village in last one month taking the toll to 21.
A total of five sheep carcasses had been found from a resident’s house in the village on Apir 19. In a similar fashion on April 6, the mystery animal had killed as many as four sheep in the cattle-shed of one Biranchi Das in the village. In the same month earlier, at least six sheep were found dead in the shed of another local resident.
Livestock farmers in the area have expressed concern over the growing sheep deaths and blamed Forest Department’s incapability to find out the predator for the same.
