The amount was sanctioned from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), informed an official release.
The sanctioned funds will be utitized by five municipal corporations, 48 municipalities and 61 NACs for feeding stray dots and animals, said the release.
The civic bodies will engage various voluntary organizations to provide food to stray animals.
While the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will spend up to Rs 20,000 per day for feeding stray animals, the municipal corporations of Cuttack, Sambalpur, Rourkela and Berhampur have been asked to spend up to Rs 10,000 per day. Similarly, municipalities can spend Rs 5,000 each per day and NACs Rs 2,000 each per day for the purpose.
