Bhubaneswar, Mar 31: Energy Minister Captain Dibyashankar Mishra on Wednesday told the State Assembly that the State Government would request the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) to reconsider the hike in power tariff for the financial year 2021-22.
The Minister made a statement in the House on the direction of the Speaker. During Zero Hour, BJP and Congress members had protested against the OERC decision to rise power tariff by 30 paisa per unit from April 4. For their protest, the House had also been stalled.
Leader of Opposition Pradipta Kumar Naik and Congress Legislature Party Leader Narasingha Mishra slammed the Government for the hike in the power tariff. They demanded that the hike decision withdrawn soon in the interest of common consumers.
However, BJD leader Amar Prasad Satpathy refuted their charge saying OERC takes the decision regarding power tariff hike and the State Government has no roll it.
