In the video, Rabi Behera, who works as a sweeper at Satkosia Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the district, is seen stitching the wound of a patient in the absence of the doctor and pharmacist.
As per reports, one Arjun Behera, a resident of Mayurbhanj district, works as a labourer at a nearby construction site. He had suffered a cut injury in his leg while working in the site.
Arjun was rushed to the Satkosia PHC for his treatment. However, there was no doctor or pharmacist to attend the patient at the hospital.
Hence, the sweeper came forward and gave the patient stitches on his leg.
Local said, the doctor visits the PHC twice in a week-Friday and Saturday. The people in the Satkosia area suffer a lot due to the absence of a regular doctor.
The locals claimed that they have requested the State govt several times to fill up the vacancy of staff at the Satakosia PHC but in vain.
