Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Budding woman cricketer Taranna Pradhan and Odisha’s BCCI panel umpire Durgadutta Das will be conferred with ‘Saroj Mahasuar Smruti Samman” for 2020. The coveted award instituted by the Saroj Mahasuar Smruti and some sports journalists is being given youth cricketers for the last 17 years. The award could not be given last year due to Covid pandemic.
The award to be handed over to Taranna and Durgadutta at a special function to be held at Town Club in the Old Bhubaneswar area on February 21, informed committee convenor Manoj Mohapatra.
Twenty-two-year-old all rounder Taranna had played Challengers Trophy for Indian Blue in 2018-19. She, a medium space bowler, has garnered 20 wickets from 13 matches Under 23 category in this season. Daughter of Dharmendra Pradhan and Gayatri Pradhan, Taranna has got training from shirod Behera.
The BCCI empanelled Durgadutta Das as umpire in 2019 by which time he had experience in umpiring for seven years for OCA.
