Oddisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced cash reward for the winners and participants from the State in the Tokyo Olympics Games.
Bhubaneswar, Jul 9: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced cash reward for the sports persons of the State who will beg medals in the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.
The Chief Minister also announced prize money for each of the participants from the State in the Olympics Games, which will begin on July 23.
Patnaik announced cash reward of Rs 6 crore for Gold medallist, Rs 4 crore for Silver medallist, Rs 2.5 crore for Bronze medallist and Rs 15 lakh for each participant from the State.
On Thursday evening, the Chief Minister spoke to Olympics bound player form the State and encouraged them through video conference.
He extended greetings to ace sprinter Dutee Chand, Para Shuttler Pramod Bhagat and hockey players Birendra Lakra, Amit Rohidas, Deep Grace Ekka and Namita Toppo for representing the country in the Olympics Games.
"For every athlete, Olympics is the biggest dream, and you all have turned role models for the youth. You have brought pride to your family and the state. With your utmost determination, hard work and discipline, you will definitely win medals," Patnaik said.
The players also said that they will give their best performance to bring glory for the country and the State.
Odisha Sports Minister Tushar Kanti Behera and officials of the State Government were also present in the virtual meet.
The Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics is an upcoming international multi-sport event that will take place from July 23 to August 8, 2021, in Tokyo, Japan.
