The deceased have been identified as Aswain Pal (34) and Pabitra Aruk (26) of Bhagatpur village.
As per reports, there had been a longstanding rivalry between the two villages over the ownership of a Government land.
As a sequel to the enmity, a group opened fire at another group. While, Pabitra and Aswain died on the spot, over 10 persons sustained critical injuries.
The injured persons were rushed to a hospital in Maniabandh. After primary treatment, they have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital here as their condition deteriorated.
Following the incident, the residents of Bhagabatpur village staged a road blockade, keeping the bodies near Abhimanpur Chhak on Cuttack-Narasinghapur road.
They demanded adequate compensation for the family members of the victims and immediate arrest of the accused persons.
On being informed, police reached the spot and initiated a probe into the matter.
Police said a probe has been initiated to nab the accused and a search started to trace the culprit.
