Identified as Sarat Kumar Behera and Rakesh Kumar Behera of College Square Puja Committee was demanding Rs 13,000 as puja donation from a businessman in the city, says report.
Police swung into action and took the accused duo into custody after the concerned businessman lodged a complaint in connection with the case at Malgodown Police Station. He claimed in his FIR that Sarat and Rakesh forced him to pay the donation despite his repeated expression of helplessness for the same, informed Cuttack Zone-I ACP Amarendra Panda.
Panda in his note of caution to all donation collectors and extortionists in the city has reiterated that any such incident will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken.
