Paralakhemundi, Feb 12: Unable to answer questions posed by Odisha BJP leaders, Andhra Pradesh Government officials, who had come to conduct Panchayat elections in bordering Manikpatna village under Gangabada GP in Gajapati district, fled the spot forthwith on Friday.
A delegation of BJP leaders led by State president Samir Mohanty visited some villages in Gajapati district on the Andhra Pradesh border. During this time, Srikakulam district’s Tekili Sub-Collector Dhananjay Sairav along with a Tehsildar and a DSP were approaching villagers of Manikapatana to participate in the ongoing GP voting of Andhra Pradesh. Mohanty, Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Pradipta Kumar Naik and party general secretary Bhrugu Baxipatra went to them and asked them to show map and records to substantiate the AP’s claim of right over the village. But they could not show any document and moved back forthwith.
During the visit, the team urged the Gajapati district administration to provide all basic facilities like education, health service, communication and drinking water to the people of the villages on the border within two months’ time.
