Jharsuguda, Apr 6: Amidst Covid-19 restrictions by the district administration, vendors and farmers resorted to a unique way of protest by dumping vegetables on the road in Jharsuguda town on Monday.
Hundreds of local vendors and farmers who took part in the protest claimed that due to the ongoing restrictions over opening their shops and outlets they have lost their source of bread and butter.
“We are facing huge financial losses after the administration’s order for the closure of weekly vegetable market located near the bus stand over Corona resurgence. We demand an alternate place to run our business,” said the agitators.
Earlier, the district administration had ordered for the closure of the weekly market and directed the vendors to sell vegetables at different places in the town but tension erupted today morning after vegetable vendors arrived with their commodities and were prevented by police to open their shops.
Later, they dumped the vegetables on the road as a mark of protest.
