Cuttack, Apr 2: Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday stressed on use of Odia in judiciary and legal system of the State for further promotion of the language.
“Lawyers should present their arguments in Odia and judges pronounce verdicts in Odia in Odisha. This should be done to promote Odia language further,” the Vice-President said while speaking at the 600h birth anniversary celebrations of Adikabi Sarala Das and Sarala Sahitya Sansad’s 40th annual day celebration here today.
He conferred the Sarala Sansad’s highest award ‘Kalinga Ratna’ on Andhra Pradesh Governor Bishwabhushan Harichandan on the occasion.
The Vice-President said Adikabi Sarala Das had all talents to translate difficult thoughts and contemplations into simple language and he had done it for common people to understand.
Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Cuttack MP Bhartrubari Mahtab gracing the occasion highlighted Sarala Das’ contribution to Odia literature.
