Udala, Feb 24: Officials of Udala Forest Range sustained injuries after they were attacked by a group of villagers in Jamudiha area here last night while they were returning with seized items following raid.
As per the report, getting a tip-off on a poaching activity the Forest Department officials carried out a raid in Jamudiha last night and searched a house.
Around 60 kg venison and two guns were found and seized from the house and two poachers were taken into custody during the raid, says report.
However, while the officials were approaching their Bolero a group of 20-30 villagers started hurling stones at them and released the poacher duo. The attackers also snatched away one seized gun and 50 kg venison before ransacking the vehicle.
The officials somehow managed to retain 10 kg of seized venison and one gun during the attack and returned with Udala Forest Range office in a private vehicle.
Police have seized the damaged Bolero of late.
