Sambalpur, Feb 28: In the wake of the upsurge in Covid-19 cases inside the campus recently, the Sambalpur district administration on Sunday closed the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) till further orders.
The step was taken after as many as 25 students of the varsity were detected with Covid-19 in past couple of days. These cases came from three hostels of the University.
With an objective to control further spread of the pandemic the district administration has also declared the hostels of VSSUT as ‘Containment Zones’ and the nearby areas of ‘Pulaha’ hall of residence as buffer zones.
Post declaration of the Containment Zone, strict perimeter control has come into force into the hostel area of the varsity. As a part of which only highly necessary activities will be allowed in this area which include, supply of medicines, medical transfers and supply of essential commodities.
No movement of people in or out of the ‘Containment Zone’ will be allowed under normal circumstances.
All roads connecting the Containment Zone will be guarded by police personnel.
Similarly, all persons residing in the buffer zone will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
