Addressing a press meet held at party headquarters here, state BJP general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said that the provisional waiting list for 2018-19 had 1.5 lakh beneficiaries. However, the tentative list doesn’t have their names.
“The state government should maintain transparency in selecting beneficiaries and take reference from the 2018-19 list,” he said. The BJP leader also suggested the government open a grievance cell at the block office instead of the panchayat office to avoid unwanted situations. “The identities of the persons, who will share the information on non-eligible beneficiaries, should be kept hidden. Otherwise, this might result in unwanted incidents in the villages. So grievance boxes should be kept at block offices instead of gram panchayat offices,” Harichandan said.
The BJP leader urged the government to include people having an asbestos house under the scheme. He also asked the government to use the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana logo.
The BJP will intensify the protest if the state government fails to provide houses under the PMAY to the needy and eligible beneficiaries.
