Replying to a written query of BJD MLA Raj Kishore Das the Minister said, “There is no proposal under consideration for the formation of the new district in the said.” Thus, there is uncertainty over the district status of Padampur.
Noteworthy, MLA Das has sought an answer from the Minister regarding the district status of Rairangpur. In reply Minister Pramila Mallick said, “In 1992 and 1993 17 more districts were formed. During that period the Revenue and Disaster Management Department had received the proposal for the formation of the new district. But, there is no proposal under consideration for the formation of a new district in the State,” the Minister said.
On November 16, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday assured the members of Padmapur Zilla Kriyanustan Committee to accord district status to Padampur by December 31, 2023.
