As per reports, the woman, who hails from Kujang block of Jagatsinghpur district, poured patrol on her and attempted to set her-self on fire in front of the Jayadev Bhawan near the State Assembly.
However, alert police personnel immediately overpowered the woman and took her into their custody.
While being taken to custody, the woman said her son was allegedly burnt to death at a wine shop in 2016.
But the police didn’t take any action due to the pressure of local BJD leaders, the woman claimed.
I have no other option but to die by suicide after being unable to get justice from the police and State Government, she added.
This is the second suicide attempt played out near the State Assembly in the last 24 hours.
On Wednesday evening, a man tried to end his life near the Assembly but the security personnel whisked him away from the spot.
