The victim has been identified as Saraswati Sethi, a ward member of that area.
It is assumed that Saraswati went to the kitchen this morning to cook food when the mishap took place. As she raised alarm, locals came to her rescue. By the time firefighters arrived at the scene and contained the blaze, 90% of Saraswati's body had been burnt.
The victim was rushed to Manijanga Health center and later shifted to Cuttack SCB Medical College and Hospital where she is undergoing treatment now.
“The incident may have taken place during cooking,” said a fire-fighter. Upon receiving the news, the Tirthol police have reached the spot and started an investigation.
