On Thursday, some students belonging to +2 stream of various colleges of the city staged demonstration at the same place here to press their demand.
“We have already lost our large part of time and if the Government decides to conduct the examinations after two months, we will be badly affected in pursuing our higher studies. Hence the State Government should cancel the Plus II board examinations,” said a student.
“We will intensify our protest and gherao Naveen Niwas (residence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik), if the Government doesn’t take a decision in our favour in 10 days,” he warned.
Later, Commissionerate Police reached the spot and took them to their custody.
Meanwhile, the members of “Naba Nirman Chhatra Sangathan”, a student body, extended their support to the protesting students.
The State government has postponed the Plus II examinations, which were scheduled to be held on May 18 onaccunt of the surge in Covid-19 cases in the State.
