Chennai, Feb 14: England were bowled out for 134 in their first innings in the final session on Day Two of the second Test against India at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here on Sunday.
With this, India took the lead of 195 runs in their first innings of the match.
For England, wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Foakes remained not out on 42 runs. Ollie Pope (22), Ben Stokes (18) and Dominic Sibley (16) were the other three batters who made notable contributions for the visitors.
For India, ace off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin scalped five wickets, conceding 43 runs. Veteran Ishant Sharma and debutant Axar Patel picked two wickets each while Mohammad Siraj got one wicket.
Earlier, opting to bat first, India posted 329 on a turning pitch in Chennai. Rohit Sharma scored a magnificent 161, while Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant made significant contributions of 67 and 58 not out respectively.
Moeen Ali took four wickets, while pacer Olly Stone claimed three dismissals for England. Jack Leach bagged two wickets, while captain Joe Root also scalped a wicket.
As per the latest reports, the home team was leading by 249 runs while Rohit and Cheteswar Pujara were batting at 25 and 7 respectively in the final session of the day.
