Bhubaneswar, Aug 20: In a significant stride for India’s strategic defense capabilities, the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) ‘Agni-5’ was successfully test-fired from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha on Wednesday.

The launch was conducted under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), validating all operational and technical parameters.

Agni-5, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), is India’s most advanced IRBM, capable of striking targets over 5,000 kilometers away. The missile’s successful launch reaffirms India’s commitment to maintaining credible minimum deterrence and bolstering its strategic arsenal.

Defense officials confirmed that the test met all mission objectives, including trajectory accuracy, re-entry performance, and payload delivery. The launch was closely monitored by telemetry stations, radars, and tracking systems positioned along the eastern coast.

Agni-5’s canister-based launch system allows for swift deployment and enhanced mobility, making it a formidable component of India’s nuclear triad.
