Bhubaneswar, Dec 12: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a circular to extract as much as Rs 50,000 as a fine if it finds 'To-let' advertisement poster on the walls of government buildings in the city. The circular came this morning as a measure to transform the cleanliness of the city.
Renting houses has become a business in Bhubaneswar with many people seeking accommodation. However, in an aim to earn, some people stick 'To-let' bills on the walls and other places they find in public places.
This has dirtied the walls in the city. Thus, the BMC has come with a guideline to not stick any poster or bill on walls, electric poles or any other public property, barring which a whopping Rs 50,000 can be charged. Stringent action would also be taken if someone was found doing so.

As of now, Rs 3,000 to Rs 50,000 fines have been collected amounting to a Rs 1.5 Lakh. Apart from a monetary fine, action against the advertising agency will also be taken, said the BMC order.
