Bhadrak, Nov 6: Vehicular movement was disrupted on the Dhamra-Basudebpur main road as a large number of farmers staged a 'Rasta Roko', protesting the nonreceipt of prices of paddy they had sold to the government a year back.
Under the Gadi Seva Co-operative Society of Basudebpur block, the farmers had sold their paddy to the government but till now the money has not been received by them.
As a result, the farmers blocked the road near Chandimal Chacha on the Basudebpur-Dhamra main road. In the month of January, the farmers gave the grain by scanning their eyes. The secretary of the society has been giving dates for payment only. Later, the farmers complained in this regard to everyone from the supply department officials to the District Collector, but the farmers did not get the money yet.
Due to the road blockade, the movement of vehicles was disrupted on the road. Vehicles were seen stranded at both ends of the agitation site.
They demanded that they get their money without further delay and threatened they would commit suicide if the demand was not met immediately.
