Angul, Jun 23: Two unidentified miscreants allegedly barged into the house and decamped with valuables and ornaments worth over Rs 5 lakh.

According to reports, the shocking incident took place at one Ranjan Kumar Gadanayak's house at Podapada village under Chhendipada police limits in Angul district.

The intruders managed to enter the house, located in the heart of the village, and made away with more than 60 grams of gold ornaments, silver anklets, several coins, and a laptop. They reportedly broke open a Godrej locker to access the valuables.

Soon after the incident came to fore, a formal complaint has been lodged, and Chendipada police have launched an investigation.

Authorities are currently examining the scene and gathering evidence to identify and apprehend the culprits.

Additionally, a wave of thefts has left residents of Khallipalli village, under Jagannathpur Panchayat in Banki’s Baideswar police limits, shaken and sleepless.

In a series of coordinated burglaries late last night, miscreants targeted four homes, looting cash and gold ornaments worth several lakhs of rupees.

According to reports, the thieves took advantage of the late-night hours when all residents were asleep. They broke into three houses, stealing large sums of cash and gold jewelry by forcefully opening Godrej almirahs. An attempt was also made to rob a fourth house, but it was reportedly unsuccessful.

Baideswar police have launched an investigation and visited the village to collect evidence and statements.
