Bhubaneswar, Jul 8: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to visit Jharkhand on July 9 to participate in the crucial Eastern Zonal Council meeting, chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on July 10.

The high-level meeting will bring together the Chief Ministers of eastern states to discuss regional governance, security issues, and cooperative development strategies.

The Eastern Zonal Council meeting, scheduled in Ranchi, aims to foster stronger inter-state coordination and address long-standing concerns including infrastructure, law and order, and internal security.

Sources suggest that left-wing extremism, particularly Maoist activities, may be one of the key topics of deliberation, given its impact across multiple states in the zone.

CM Majhi is expected to present Odisha’s latest efforts in strengthening border security, enhancing connectivity in tribal areas, and promoting collaborative frameworks with neighbouring states. His participation highlights Odisha’s growing role in regional cooperation and counter-insurgency planning.

Apart from Chief Minister Majhi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, dignitaries from West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and other member states of the Eastern Zonal Council are expected to attend. The meeting promises strategic decisions and new policies aimed at improving governance and citizen safety across the eastern corridor.

This visit marks an important engagement for the Odisha Chief Minister, as he aligns his administration with national priorities and regional collaboration platforms.
