Bargarh, Aug 12: A multi-angle investigation into the tragic incident in Odisha involving a 13-year-old girl from Firingimal village in Bargarh district, who succumbed to burn injuries after allegedly setting herself on fire, is underway.

The minor, a student of Class 8, was found in a severely burnt condition near her maternal uncle’s house and was rushed to Burla Medical College Hospital in Sambalpur, where she later died during treatment. Police have launched a multi-angle investigation to uncover the circumstances leading to the girl's death.

Preliminary findings suggest a possible family dispute, but authorities are not ruling out other motives, including abetment to suicide. A viral video reportedly shows the girl mentioning another girl who allegedly passed some harsh comment, which has added complexity to the case.

Three dedicated police teams have been formed to probe the incident. Investigators have detained the girl’s cousin, maternal uncle, and a local petrol shop owner for questioning. A video statement recorded by the police before her death is being analyzed for clues.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the village and surrounding areas. The girl’s final rites were conducted under tight security, and locals are demanding a thorough investigation and justice for the deceased.
