Bhubaneswar Aug 4: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall across Odisha for the next few days, with a yellow alert issued for thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds until August 8.

Following a period of alternating dry spells and showers, the state is expected to witness renewed rainfall activity due to a low-pressure system moving north-eastward over the Bay of Bengal. The IMD has warned of moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in several districts.

On Monday, light to moderate rain is likely in parts of northern Odisha, southern coastal regions, and southern interior districts. The alert includes the possibility of gusty winds and lightning strikes.

Districts under the yellow alert include Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, and Koraput.
