In an awful incident, around 14 students of the Ashram school at Badaraisingh in Rayagada district on Saturday walked for 17 km to meet the district collector here to air their grievances.

Rayagada, Dec 9: In an awful incident, around 14 students of the Ashram school at Badaraisingh in Rayagada district on Saturday walked for 17 km to meet the district collector here to air their grievances.

The tribal students embarked on the 17-km on-foot journey to the collector’s office at around 3.30 am to share the issues they faced every day.

The students said they suffer a lot as the principal of the Residential school abused them and did not provide them with proper food for the past few months.

Reportedly, the official agreed that the allegations of the students will be probed and proper action will be taken.

Around 240 students stay in the school's hostel of which 100 are boys and the rest 140 are girls.
