Ayodhya, Oct 19: Ayodhya witnessed a historic Deepotsav celebration this year, setting two new Guinness World Records and illuminating the city with unmatched grandeur and devotion. The event marked a spectacular display of cultural pride and collective spirit.
A largest number of people simultaneously spinned oil lamps (diyas) — a mesmerizing sight that showcased unity and tradition. Thousands of participants came together to perform the synchronized act, creating a breathtaking visual across the ghats and streets of Ayodhya.
A record 2,128 Vedacharyas performed Maha Aarti and recited shlokas on the banks of the Saryu River. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several ministers graced the event.
Another record was for the largest display of oil lamps, with a staggering 26,17,215 diyas lit across the city — 56 ghats of Ayodhya. The glowing lamps transformed Ayodhya into a sea of light, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed pride in the cultural and spiritual significance of the event. He praised the people of Ayodhya and the administration for their dedication in making the Deepotsav a global spectacle.
The UP CM said that these Diyas are symbols of the victory of faith over years of darkness. Along with the festival of lights in Ayodhya, more than 1 crore 51 lakh Diya’s are being lit across the state.
With these records, Ayodhya has further cemented its place
as a spiritual and cultural beacon, celebrating Diwali in a way that blends
tradition with global recognition.
