The motion was filed on the opening day of the Monsoon

political atmosphere.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Ram Chandra Kadam accused the BJP government of failing to address critical issues such as women’s safety, law and order, and the plight of farmers, Dalits, tribals, and OBCs. “The State government has not lived up to the expectations of the people, hence we submitted a notice for a no-confidence motion against the government,” Kadam Said.
Congress leaders urged the Speaker to admit the motion and allow a debate post Question Hour. Meanwhile, BJP leaders dismissed the move, citing Congress’s limited strength in the Assembly.
In the 147-member Odisha Legislative Assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
currently holds a majority with 78 seats, followed by the BJD with 51 seats (Nuapada now vacant).
The Congress has only 14 seats, while the Communist Party of India (Marxist)
holds one. Additionally, there are three Independent members, who extend
support to the BJP government.
