Cuttack, May 3: A devastating accident occurred at a bridge construction site in Khannagar area in Cuttack when a slab, being lifted by a crane, suddenly collapsed, trapping multiple workers underneath. The incident has left three workers dead and two others critically injured.

As the construction crew was engaged in slab installation, an unexpected structural failure caused a slab to fall.

Reports, at the time of filing the story, five workers were severely injured. Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene and rescued the trapped labourers, transferring them to SCB Medical College & Hospital for urgent medical care.

Despite immediate medical intervention, two of the injured workers succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment. After an hour, another worker succumbed. The conditions of the two other workers are critical.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the failure and assess the safety measures in place at the construction site.
