Bhubaneswar/Guwahati, Nov 26: India suffered yet another humiliating series whitewash at home after World Test Champions South Africa registered Wednesday a scintillating 408-run victory in the second Test here.
Chasing a mammoth 549-run target, Indian batters hardly threatened the Proteas as they bundled out for a paltry 140. Ravindra Jadeja was the top scorer for the hosts with an impressive 54 as he didn’t get any kind of support from others.
Off-spinner Simon Harmer bagged a six-wicket haul in the
second innings, taking his match tally to nine wickets, while Marco Jansen bagged
seven wickets in the match, including a six-fer in the first innings, to go
with his 91-ball 93-run knock laced with six 4s and a record seven 6s.

✨With this win, South Africa moved up to second place with a winning percentage of 75, while third-placed Sri Lanka have 66.67 per cent. However, the Proteas have played four matches in the World test Championship 2025-27 cycle so far, compared to the island nation’s two Tests.
India, on the other hand, have dropped to fifth with 48.15% win record, having played nine Tests, most by any team in the cycle so far. Their arch-rivals Pakistan moved up to fourth with 50 per cent win record (two matches). Australia lead the standing with 100 per cent win record, claiming victories in all four Tests they have played so far.
This was the second series whitewash in Tests at home in 13
months after New Zealand handed them similar humiliation last year. This
certainly raises questions about the team tactics, combinations as well
selections putting the position of Gautam Gambhir as head coach in jeopardy.
