New Delhi, Nov 30: Actor Ranveer Singh has always been a charismatic figure in Bollywood but recently he has found himself stuck in two separate storms. First involving a moment on stage connected to the movie - Kantara and later intensified by the growing controversy surrounding his upcoming action thriller Dhurandhar, these incidents together have ignited nationwide debates.
The controversy first began with Ranveer Singh’s comments at the closing ceremony of IFFI 2025 in Goa on Friday, where the actor—renowned for his spontaneity and humour—attempted to imitate a dramatic sequence from the acclaimed Kannada film Kantara.
The recreated scene depicted a character undergoing a divine or spiritual possession, which sparked mixed reactions among audiences.
While the audience present, along with the cast of Kantara including actor Rishab Shetty, appeared to take the act lightly, the video’s arrival on social media was anything but subtle, sparking intense reactions and debate.

As the online backlash intensified, Ranveer Singh was already preparing for the release of Dhurandhar, a high‑impact action drama that quickly became the centre of public attention. The controversy deepened when the family of Late Major Mohit Sharma, AC(P), SM—a decorated Army officer honoured with the Ashoka Chakra and Sena Medal—approached the Delhi Court seeking a stay on the film’s release. They raised concerns that the storyline of Dhurandhar appeared strikingly similar to the real‑life missions undertaken by their late son, prompting a legal and ethical debate around the film.
Responding to the Sharma family, it's Director Aditya Dhar
responded by issuing a formal clarification that " “Hi, sir – Our film
Dhurandhar is not based on the life of braveheart Major Mohit Sharma AC(P) SM.
This is an official clarification. I assure you, if we do make a biopic on
Mohit Sir in the future, we will do it with full consent and in complete
consultation with the family, and in a way that truly honours his sacrifice for
the nation and the legacy it has left for all of us."
