Nabarangpur, Feb 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party doesn't do politics for power but does it for nation-building and development of people. This is the only political party in the country which transforms promises to work. 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated this here while addressing a Parliamentary and Assembly level election meeting of the BJP here this morning. 

On the occasion, he took a dig at the Congress for pushing the country to penury and underdevelopment. 

"The Congress has betrayed the country for a long period. But the overall scenario of the country changed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi formed a government at the centre," claimed Rajnath Singh. 

The Union Minister said the BJP has always transformed its promises into action.   

"The BJP is the only party in the country which executes its promises. We had promised to abrogate Article 370, we did it. We promised to lift the Teen Talak system, we did it. The BJP's straightforwardness is people-centric and pro-people," said Rajnath Singh. 

Highlighting other major achievements of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi Government, the Defence Minister said terrorism has been addressed to a greater extent. As many as 2 crore women have been made lakhpati. Aayushman Bharat Yojana has been introduced to provide proper healthcare to the poor people of the country. 

He said the country gave a befitting reply to the neighbouring country to the Pulwama attack. 

He said the highest number of beneficiaries have been registered to get government schemes. 

"A double-engine government should run in Odisha," said Singh.
