New Delhi, Feb 14: Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan met with Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Kao Kim Hourn here on Wednesday and discussed various ways to strengthen the existing collaboration in the field of education and skill development for mutual benefit.
According to sources, Pradhan and Kim Hourn discussed ASEAN-India cooperation in education and people-to-people exchanges, including the ongoing scholarship programmes for ASEAN Member States to pursue studies at Nalanda University as well as research, capacity building, and faculty exchanges between ASEAN Member States and India.
The Minister briefed the visiting leader about the new initiatives of India under the New Education Policy (NEP2020) and how India is creating Digital Public Infrastructure for delivery of education.
"India's relationship with ASEAN is a key pillar of our foreign policy. In line with the true spirit of India’s Act East Policy, called for deepening ASEAN-India relations in the field of education," Pradhan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Government of India emphasized the significance of engagement with ASEAN within the framework of India’s Act East policy, which marks its 10th year in 2024. The partnership also aligns with India's vision for the broader Indo-Pacific region, emphasizing collaboration and cooperation for mutual benefit.
