Sambalpur, Dec 30: The Union Ministry of Education will begin researching the history of Kudopali through the ICHR from the very first day of the New Year 2023. The data collected and the entire scheme of things relating to Kudopali will be put in a book.

Union Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced this while gracing a commemorative meeting on Veer Chhabil Sai and 57 other martyrs organized by the 'Veer Chhabila Sai Smruti Committee' at Kudorpalli today. 

Pradhan said all should make efforts to make Kudopalli into a national-level pilgrim site. 

He thanked the youth mass for holding the 166th 'Balidaan Divas' of Veer Chhabila Sai. 

Pradhan said the Narendra Modi government is committed to finding out and honouring valiant leaders who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The New Education Policy has also an aim to bring all freedom strugglers to public knowledge. 

On December 30, 1857, Chhabila Sai, who was guarding Kudopali Ghati, and his 53 associates were martyred while fighting with the Britishers. Besides, four others were given punishment. Detailed research on the heroic act of Chhabil Sai and others will be conducted by ICHR.  

The Union Minister said sacrifices made for the protection of the motherland by Udant Sai, Dhrub Sai, Ujjwal Sai, Chhabil Sai,

Jajjwal Sai, Medini Sai, Kolabira Jamidar Karunakar Singh Naik, Ghens Jamidar family member Madho Singh, Kunjan Singh, Aira Singh, Baira Singha and Hate Singh are incomparable. 

Earlier in 1817, Odias led by Baxi Jagabandhu had initiated the country's first organised war against the British, he said. Our country has become powerful because of the sacrifices of these heroes. 

He urged upon all to resolve Viksit Bharat by 2047 by remembering and respecting valiant heroes like Veer Surendra Sai and Chhabil Sai. 

On the occasion, Pradhan participated in a rally organised in commemoration of Chhabil Sai and 57 other martyrs and paid tributes to them. He said Kudopali has remained a symbol of sacrifice and bravery for all time.   

Among others, Chhattisgarh Governor Bishwabhushan Harichandan graced the occasion. 
In his speech, the Governor said the entire Odias are always brave. Paika Bidroh is an example of this. 

"The Odia clan has never accepted defeat. Sacrifices made by Veer Surendra Sai and Chhabila Sai will always be memorable. Patriotism is a big need for nation building," said Harichandan.
