Swami Ramdev Leads Grand Yoga Programme In Amaravati On 12th International Yoga Day

Vijayawada/Amaravati, Jun 21: Owing to the relentless efforts, dedication and vision of Yoga Rishi Swami Ramdev, yoga has today gained global recognition and acceptance. On the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day, observed under the theme *"Yoga for Healthy Ageing"*, Swami Ramdev led a grand yoga programme from the Krishna River region in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, and called for the creation of a yoga-centred nation and a yoga-centred world.

The programme was jointly organised by Patanjali Yogpeeth and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. Acharya Balkrishna was also present during the event.

Thousands Participate In Common Yoga Protocol

Although the programme began at around 5am., Swami Ramdev, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Acharya Balkrishna participated in the official Common Yoga Protocol session and guided thousands of yoga practitioners through the standardised 45-minute yoga routine.

The session commenced with prayer and joint movement exercises focusing on the neck, shoulders, waist and knees. Participants then practised standing asanas including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Padahastasana, Ardha Chakrasana and Trikonasana.

Among the seated postures, Bhadrasana, Vajrasana, Ardha Ustrasana, Shashankasana and Uttana Mandukasana were demonstrated. Participants also practised Makarasana, Bhujangasana and Shalabhasana while lying on the stomach. Supine postures included Setubandhasana, Uttanapadasana, Ardha Halasana and Pawanmuktasana.

The session concluded with pranayama and meditation practices, including Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari, meditation and Sankalp.

Amaravati Is The Land Of The Gods, Says Swami Ramdev
Addressing the gathering, Swami Ramdev said Amaravati is the capital of the gods and praised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for facilitating the successful organisation of the programme.

He described Naidu as a visionary leader possessing determination, a spirit of service, dedication and exceptional creative capability. According to Swami Ramdev, Naidu is not merely the Chief Minister of a state but a source of inspiration for the entire nation.

Sending a message to the world, Swami Ramdev reiterated the slogan *"Karo Yog, Raho Nirog"* (Practise Yoga, Stay Healthy), describing it as the essence of yoga.

He said yoga is the contribution, heritage and scientific gift of India’s ancient sages to the world. Yoga, he added, is a lifestyle for everyone, a process of self-healing, a spiritual discipline for yogis, a way of life for ordinary people and a complete system of treatment for the sick.

Naidu Calls For Yoga In Every Household
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said his mission is to take yoga to every household in Andhra Pradesh and transform it into a people’s movement.

He credited Swami Ramdev with popularising yoga globally and stated that Ramdev is not only India’s yoga guru but also the yoga guru of the world.

Naidu noted that he has spent the last three decades promoting technology, while Swami Ramdev has devoted the last 30 years to spreading yoga. He stressed the need to combine technology and spirituality.

“Our goal is not merely to make Andhra Pradesh a technology hub but also a spiritual and wellness hub,” he said.

Major Yoga Reference Book Released
During the programme, Acharya Balkrishna released a book titled *"Yogartha Yoganighantuh"*.

Speaking about the publication, he said it documents:

* 3,753 yogasanas
* 55 types of pranayama
* 721 mudras and bandhas
* 120 meditation techniques
* 150 cleansing practices
* 400 yogic exercises

In total, the book records and documents 5,199 yoga practices and techniques for the first time. The publication is available in Sanskrit and English and serves as a compilation of yoga’s intellectual and cultural heritage.

PM Modi Credited For Global Yoga Movement
Swami Ramdev thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for inspiring the global observance of International Yoga Day.

He said that due to Modi’s efforts, 177 countries supported the proposal that eventually led to the establishment of International Yoga Day by the United Nations.

Congratulating the Prime Minister, Swami Ramdev said Modi’s vision and determination are helping India move towards becoming a developed, healthy, prosperous and globally respected nation.

Yoga For Lifestyle Diseases And Healthy Ageing
Swami Ramdev emphasised that yoga offers solutions to numerous physical ailments and disorders.

In addition to the Common Yoga Protocol, he demonstrated and explained the benefits of Ustrasana, Purna Ustrasana, Halasana, Markatasana, Sarvangasana, Shirshasana, Chakrasana, Purna Chakrasana, Paschimottanasana, Padmasana, Uttishtha Padmasana, Vajrasana, Mayurasana, Mandukasana, Dandasana, Yoga Mudrasana, Purvasana, Vakrasana, Ardha Matsyendrasana, Gomukhasana, Pawanmuktasana, Uttanapadasana and Setubandhasana.

He highlighted yoga’s benefits for healthy ageing, longevity, immunity enhancement, obesity management, spinal health, thyroid disorders, diabetes, liver diseases, kidney ailments, digestive disorders, hypertension, prostate issues, hernia, hydrocele, piles, fissures and fistula.

Students Showcase Advanced Yoga Demonstrations
Students from Patanjali Gurukulam, Acharyakulam and Patanjali University presented a series of yoga demonstrations, including Mallakhamb Yoga, Rope Yoga, standard yoga practices and advanced yoga techniques.

The event also promoted the themes *"Yoga for Youth"*, *"Yoga for Students"* and *"Yoga for Children"*.

Swami Ramdev advised parents to ensure that children practise at least five advanced yoga techniques regularly.

Pranayama Is Brahmavidya
Apart from yogasanas, Swami Ramdev conducted an extensive pranayama session.

He described pranayama as Brahmavidya, calling it a completely scientific, highly effective and simple practice suitable for people of all age groups.

The breathing practices demonstrated included Bhastrika, Kapalabhati, Bahya Pranayama, Anulom-Vilom, Bhramari, Ujjayi, Udgeeth, Sheetali and Sheetkari.

Stadium Packed Before Sunrise
The stadium was packed with yoga practitioners even before 6 am. Swami Ramdev praised the enthusiasm, discipline and commitment displayed by the people of Andhra Pradesh and noted their deep faith in yoga and Sanatan Dharma.

Dignitaries Attend Grand Celebration
Among those present were Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) and Vijayawada Central MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, among others.

The successful organisation of the programme was supported by several Patanjali functionaries, including Dr Sadhvi Devpriya, Rakesh ‘Bharat’, Swami Paramarthadev, S.K. Tijarawala and Aastha TV CEO Pramod Joshi.
